2010 America the Beautiful Quarter Images Revealed by US Mint

The United States Mint has released images of the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters. Numismatic silver versions of these same coins will be in two U.S. Mint silver products this year — the 2010 US Mint Silver Proof Set and the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set.

They will also be duplicated in America the Beautiful Silver Bullions Coins — the 3-inch diameter, 5-ounce silver coins that will be introduced later this summer. These coins will be composed of .999 fine silver. The fineness and weight will be edge-incused.

The 2010 quarters are the first five of fifty-six over a dozen years that will honor (with reverse designs) 48 National Parks, 2 U.S. Fish and Wildlife sites, and 6 U.S. Forest Service sites.

This year’s coins will commemorate Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas, Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, Yosemite National Park in California, Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, and Mount Hood National Forest Site in Oregon. They have respective circulating 2010 issue dates of April 19, June 1, July 26, September 20, and November 15.

Since the Hot Springs area has the distinction of being the first land set aside by the national government as a ‘reservation’ in 1832, it is the first coin to be issued in the new series. While it launches into circulation on Monday, April 19, there will be a special ceremonial release at the park on Tuesday, April 20, which coincides with its 178th anniversary.

Until this week, only line art designs of the quarters were available for public review, and those were released in late March. The new images showcase the designs in a much better light, as the following displays for each quarter reveal:
