2012-W American Silver Eagle Proof Coin

2012-W American Silver Eagle Proof Coin

As expected, United States Mint weekly sales revealed robust debuting figures for the 2012-W American Silver Eagle proof coin. This year’s most popular numismatic silver issue launched on Thursday, April 12. By Monday, April 16, collectors purchased 299,539 of them.

A few things changed between this year’s release and previous ones, the first being there were no household ordering limits this time to hinder sales. A second is the time of year. Pricing is also a consideration. But without further ado, the table below illustrates that initial collector demand for the .999 fine silver coins has remained steady and strong in recent years even with release variations.

Bullion American Silver Eagles hit 880,000 for the month of April. The U.S. Mint’s small group of authorized buyers took in 320,000 since last Tuesday, causing the latest year-to-date total to cross 11 million and settle at 11,019,000.

What do you guys know about the very limited (if at all) release of the 2012 5 OZ ATB coins? I have not been able to find any for sale, APMEX says they are out of stock. Think this is another act of stuck on stupid by the mint and a rarity created as a result?

  2. Josh says:

The 2012 5 oz. ATB coins have not been issued yet for the year. This includes both the collector and bullion versions. Hopefully they will be on the next set of release dates posted by the mint.
