2012-W American Silver Eagle Proof Coin

2012-W Proof Silver Eagle coins advanced by more than 23,000 to reach 819,217 in sales

The new total landed at 819,217 on November 5, 2012 and is now only 30,783 away from the number of individually sold silver coins in 2011.

These proof Silver Eagles from the U.S. Mint facility in West Point originally went on sale April 12, 2012. Their weekly increases have fluctuated by thousands since their release, with recent gains of 5,567 in the prior round and 15,766 before then.

As for other numismatic American Silver Eagle coins:

  • 2012-W Uncirculated Silver Eagles rose 827 to reach 151,868
  • Making American History Coin and Currency Sets, which have a 2012-S Proof American Silver Eagle coin from San Francisco, added 304 to their total
  • 2012 Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin Sets with a West Point uncirculated coin picked up 217

Also doing very well were the investment-grade American Silver Eagle coins. To kick off the month of November, Authorized Purchasers took in 1,050,000 after having bought 766,000 in the prior week. Combined with the latest advance, year-to-date sales came in at 29,998,000 or 2,000 shy of hitting the 30 million marker.

Finally, while not a silver product, the U.S. Mint on Thursday at 12:00 noon ET will release its 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Circulating Coin Set™ for $5.95. The ten-coin set includes clad Philadelphia and Denver struck quarters in circulating quality. The set is designed with collectors in mind as the quarters may easily be pulled from the packaging to place in coin albums.
