Sales of the investor 2014 Everglades National Park Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coin blasted off with U.S. Mint authorized dealers buying 22,000 on the first day. That is already 5,200 more than the prior Great Sand Dunes coin which launched in September. These bullion coins can be purchased from coin and precious metals dealers for around $105 each. Demand determines how many are sold.

Staring sales of the collectible 2014-P Everglades National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin will not be known until next week, and will be reported here on Silver Coins Today. The U.S. Mint sells these versions directly to the public for $154.95. They have a mintage limit of 30,000.

Everglades National Park Silver Coin Design and Coin Specification

America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Coins offer the same basic imagery as found on the associated America the Beautiful Quarter, including an obverse portrait of George Washington. The image of the first President of the United States was created by artist John Flanagan and initially featured on the 1932 circulating quarter-dollar.

Obverse inscriptions around the effigy include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and QUARTER DOLLAR. For the collector silver coins, a ‘P’ mint mark is also shown indicating the United States Mint facility in Philadelphia as its location of striking. Bullion versions are also minted in Philadelphia but they do not have a mint mark.

The Everglades National Park quarter was releaed into circulation on Nov. 3. Like it, the silvers coins feature an anhinga with outstretched wings standing on a willow tree against an Everglades inspired background. A roseate spoonbill can also be seen in the distance. Reverse inscriptions include EVERGLADES, FLORIDA, 2014 and E PLURIBUS UNUM. United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program artist Joel Iskowitz created the reverse design. It was executed by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Joseph Menna.

.999 FINE SILVER 5.0 OUNCE is inscribed on the edge indicative of the coin’s weight and fineness. This is different from companion quarters which have a reeded edge.

Ordering Collectible Uncirculated Coin

2014-P Everglades National Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins may be ordered directly from the United States Mint website, found right here, or by calling 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468). As mentioned, pricing of the coin is initially set to be $154.95, but may change based on market conditions.

For reference, the last several coins of the series have all been sold at $154.95. However, the 2010-dated inaugural program coins were sold for $279.95. Falling silver prices and an adjustment of the Mint’s pricing policies have seen subsequent coins introduced at lower levels. This Everglades uncirculated coin has a much larger premium above its melt value on release compared to previous issues this year. Silver prices have tumbled in recent weeks. There is a potential for reduced silver coin pricing should silver fall much further.

Of note, a subscription program was offered this year for the uncirculated silver coins. Enrollees were entitled to a 10% discount, bringing the price of coins down to $139.45. This discount ended when the U.S. Mint launched its new website.

No household or order limits are applicable to the release. Each comes encapsulated and presented inside a protective outer box along with a United States Mint Certificate of Authenticity.
