2014 Silver Eagle, Great Smoky Mountains Silver Coin Top Sellers

Two new U.S. Mint silver coins were top sellers in the latest sales charts. They included the 2014-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle coin, which made its sales debut on April 10, and the 2014-P Great Smoky Mountains Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin that launched on April 7.

Initial orders reached 106,349 for the one ounce uncirculated Silver Eagle. Having a price of $43.95 ($39.55 for subscribers) likely boosted sales compared to last year’s debut of the annual coin. Inaugural sales of the 2013 version were 104,570 with a starting price of $48.95.

The second best seller in the silver product category was the Great Smoky Mountains Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin. Demand was high for this numismatic issue containing five ounces of .999 fine silver. In its first week, orders totaled 21,415 and the U.S. Mint is limiting its mintage to 25,000. Obviously, consumers who want this coin should place their orders immediately, before the Mint enacts a wait list or pulls it completely.

A wait list continues for the 90% silver 2014 Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Silver Coins. All 400,000 were scooped up by April 9, and if any of those orders are canceled, then those on the wait list may have a chance at getting the very last of the sold out coins. Clad versions are still for sale. The tables below do have the latest sales breakouts for the silver coins.

The update sales period for the baseball commemorative coins is from Wednesday morning, April 9, to Sunday, April 13.
