2015 Koala Silver Coin in High Relief and 1/10 Oz Size

New silver coins portraying one of Australia’s most popular animals, the koala, are now available from the Perth Mint of Australia.

Koala silver coins are an annual tradition from the Perth Mint, and always include several bullion and numismatic releases throughout the year.
The latest issues are geared toward collectors and include a 1 ounce silver proof coin in high relief and a 1/10 ounce silver coin in card — the Mint’s final year of release, it notes. The mintage is limited for the high relief at 10,000 coins while the 1/10 ounce issue in card has no limits.
Designed by Perth Mint artist Ing Ing Jong, both coins share an image of the marsupial as it sits on the fork of a eucalyptus tree within a traditional rural landscape. Inscribed above the design is AUSTRALIAN KOALA with 2015, the size of the coin and 999 SILVER below.
Queen Elizabeth II is portrayed on the obverse or heads side of the coins. The effigy, by Ian Rank-Broadley, is surrounded by inscriptions of ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA and the legal tender face values of either 1 DOLLAR or 10 CENTS.
