At noon ET today, March 26, the United States Mint will introduce the collectible 2015-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle for $39.95. Pricing is $4 less than when last year’s coin launched, which was in April, but back then silver was also several dollars higher.

Annually issued since 2006, except for years 2009 and 2010 when silver blanks were reserved for the bullion version, the uncirculated Silver Eagle is one of the cornerstones in the Mint’s lineup. Like the other versions, it is made of one troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver.

This collector coin mostly looks like the bullion version, which is intended for investors and on Monday topped 11 million in sales since its release on January 12, 2015. The uncirculated finish on the new strike is further distinguished by the presence of a "W" mint mark to denote its production at the United States Mint at West Point.

Obverses of all American Silver Eagles have Adolph A. Weinman’s “Walking Liberty” as first seen on 1916-1947 half-dollars. Obverse inscriptions are IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY and 2015.

In addition to the mint mark, reverses feature John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle with shield image and inscriptions of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER and ONE DOLLAR.

Place orders for the 2015-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle using the U.S. Mint’s website page located here, or by calling 1-800-872-6468.

Perceived consumer demand decides its mintage limit. Last year’s edition sold out individually in December at 224,532. It remains available as one of the coins within the 2014 Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin Set for $44.95, which has sales of 26,336.
