Proof Silver Eagles Lead US Mint Sales

Across all United States Mint numismatic offerings, the 2015-W Proof Silver Eagle coin was clearly the week’s best-seller, according to the latest sales charts. Consumers snapped up 9,970 of them by Sunday, at a cost of $48.95 each, and that moved the one-ounce 99.9% fine silver coin’s total-sold number up to 587,627.

2015 Proof American Silver Eagles were the Mint’s top-selling numismatic product of the week

The new five ounce Bombay Hook silver coin moved up by 938 during its first full week on the market. It was the leader in the previous report. So far, the public has scooped up 15,371 of these collector-quality coins.

On the investor side, the U.S. Mint this week reduced its allocated sales of bullion American Silver Eagles to 970,000 from the 1,000,000 coins that was allowed a week earlier. The Mint reported 699,500 sold on Monday and 186,500 went out Wednesday, leaving 84,00 coins that can still be ordered by Authorized Purchasers this week. For the year, the Mint has sold 38,945,500 Silver Eagles, which amounts to a record-breaking pace.
