It is from these candidates that the final reverse (tails side) images for the 2015 America the Beautiful Quarters will be chosen. The selected images will also appear on the two related five ounce silver coin series since they feature the same basic imagery as found on the smaller quarter-dollars.

The two larger silver coins programs include the America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coins™ and the America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins™. Both are struck from five ounces of .999 fine silver with the bullion silver coins issued for investors and the uncirculated silver coins produced for collectors.

Both also debuted with five 2010-dated strikes like the associated America the Beautiful Quarters® program. All three series showcase the same designs including an obverse portrait of George Washington, by John Flanagan.

The reverse designs are emblematic of selected sites of national interest with five new coins issued annually in each program. For 2015, the five national sites to be honored include:

  • Homestead National Monument of America in Nebraska
  • Kisatchie National Forest in Louisiana
  • Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina
  • Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware
  • Saratoga National Historical Park in New York

The Secretary of the Treasury will choose the final five designs. Before that can happen, the design candidates will be sent for review and comment to the chief executive of the site’s jurisdiction (State/District of Columbia/Territory), the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA), and the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC). Their comments will be taken into consideration before Mint official’s make a final recommendation and requesting the Secretary’s decision.

BRP, how about a distant mountain outline and a vintage auto. No good designs here that I can see for such a beautiful park??? Surely they can come up with better designs than these for the BRP.
