US Marshals Service Silver Dollars Receive Attention

Without a new coin debut, U.S. Mint silver sales mostly slumped according to a quick analysis of the latest sales stats. An exception, and the leader in the precious metal group, was the proof 2015 US Marshals Service 225th Anniversary Silver Dollars. It jumped 7,887.

In fact, it was the best weekly sales event for the Marshals Service commemoratives in seven weeks, and in the prior report those proof dollars experienced a loss of -4,769. (Customer returns, incomplete payments, or accounting audits are common culprits when weekly sales fall into the negatives like that.)

In all, collectors have taken in 81,390 proofs and 31,585 of the uncirculated Marshals coins since they debuted on January 29. They are not expected to reach their cumulative product limit of 500,000. The Marshals Three-Coin Proof Sets, on the other hand, were designated "out-of-stock" when their sales closed in on their mintage limit of 15,000. The set’s new total dwindled by -2 in this round, so its new figure is resting at 14,740.
