US Mint Limited Edition Silver Proof Set Opening Sales

Starting sales for the U.S. Mint’s Limited Edition Silver Proof Set were published, revealing customers ordered 19,290 between November 27 and December 3, 2012.

In all, 50,000 sets may be ordered, leaving more than 30,000 still up for grabs at $149.95 each.

The Limited Edition Silver Proof Set was the Mint’s best-selling numismatic silver product of the week. The next best silver seller was the original 2012 Silver Proof Set — the 90% silver coins in this set are also part of the make-up of the limited edition set. Its sales grew from 9,542 in the previous round to 11,905 in this report. Launched on June 4, 2012, collectors have purchased 362,132.

Also gaining prominence among buyers was the 2012-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle coin. Its total advanced 5,748 compared to a prior increase of 4,776. With the latest jump, their new sales total is 169,751.

Star-Spangled Banner commemorative products are limited to 100,000 gold coins across all applicable product options, which includes the Two-Coin Proof Set. The silver dollars have a limit of 500,000.
