US Mint silver coin salesAs sales for newly released items cooled from their launch, a spike for a few older silver numismatic products occurred. In other silver coins news, American Silver Eagle bullion demand abated slightly, the latest United States Mint sales report showed.

2010 Boy Scouts of America Silver Dollar coins lost some ground. They are still at 99%+ of their total allotted 350,000 mintage, but their total fell from last week’s reported 348,977 to 348,800 for a loss of 177. In the previous report there were 1,023 left. 1,200 were available as of Sunday. Proof Boy Scouts added 1,668 and moved their total to 243,800. The sold out uncirculated BSA silver coin, on the other hand, declined 1,797 and their total fell to 105,000. Given the even number, the U.S. Mint may have completed their adjustments for returns, cancellations, etc.

The 2010 Disabled American Veterans Silver Dollars found more clout, gaining 2,248 compared to the prior 1,236. The proofs are still advancing more than twice as fast with 144,302 scooped up versus the uncirculated version’s 63,200.

The top selling numismatic product, the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set™, continue to show strength in their two plus weeks of availability. A weekly gain of 13,802 brought the new total to 105,176. The sets are still sliding, which is natural, from their launch on May 27th and the debuting sales total of 73,756. Last week’s report had their increase at 17,618.

2009 silver proof sets were split. The 2009 US Mint Silver Proof Set improved 3,584 versus the prior 2,791. Tuesday was the deadline to purchase them, which will make it interesting to see if the Mint will publish a final total next week that is more than the current 694,406, or whether collectors will have to wait until audited figures appear in 2011.

Demand for the 2009 DC and Territories Quarters Silver Proof Set eased a little. 687 were added compared to the prior 707. The new total was 282,445. The Mint did not take them off the shelves when they started selling the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Sets™, nor did they stop offering them when they ended the 18-coin 2009 US Mint Silver Proof Set yesterday. It is still listed for sale on the Mint’s web site today.

For bullion coins, American Silver Eagle demand slowed slightly. Another 585,000 were added to June’s mid-month figures, which made it to 1,724,500. The previous week’s sales were up 630,500. The year to date total hit 16,892,000. Looking back at mid-month June of 2009, the Mint had sold 13,024,500 by June 17.
