US Mint Sales: Johnson Sets Gone In 4 Hours

Short was the length of selling time for the 2015 Lyndon B. Johnson Coin & Chronicles Set. It debuted at noon ET on Tuesday, October 27, and sold out before 4 PM the same day. The set’s product limit was 25,000 and ordering was limited to 2 per household.

All four of this year’s Coin & Chronicles Sets sold quickly. Sales maxed out in 15 minutes for the sets honoring Harry S. Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower, which launched in June and August respectively, and 17,000 of each were produced. The set honoring Kennedy hit the market in September and had a 50,000 limit, and it sold out in just over two weeks.

As for other United States Mint sales stats and last week’s most popular seller, the 2015-W Proof Silver Eagle coins led with a gain of 32,186. This latest jump easily pushed their total beyond the 600,000 milestone, by landing at 619,813. The 2015 Silver Proof Set was the Mint’s second strongest silver product and third overall after the standard Proof Set, rising 7,359 to 282,357.
On the investor side of sales, the U.S. Mint increased its allocated weekly sales of bullion American Silver Eagles to 1,043,500 from the 970,000 coins that was allowed a week earlier. Atypically, the Mint is yet to report any Silver Eagle sales this week.
