US Mint silver coin salesSilver Eagles had a big week. Not only did the collector 2010 Proof Silver Eagles launch with high demand, per the most recent US Mint sales figures, but the bullion Silver Eagles soared to new highs.

Bullion Silver Eagles hit new milestones while maintaining a hot pace in November. US Mint Authorized Purchasers took another 1,410,000 over the last six days to move November’s total to 3,875,000. Even though more than a week is left in the month, that total passed the highest selling month record of 3,696,000, which was set in December 1986.

The bullion’s year-to-date total, another historic new record for the series, cruised up to 32,505,500. Plus, when looking at the 2010 Silver Eagle mintage, one more record was broken. After subtracting out the 367,500 which came from the 2009 dated Silver Eagles that sold until January 12, 2010, the reported mintage for the 2010 dated Silver Eagle is 32,138,000. Last year’s SIlver Eagle mintage previously held the record at 30,459,000.

As for the 2010 Silver Eagle Proof that went on sale Friday, November 19, collectors bought 273,212 of them during their three-day debut sales. That easily topped the previous opening performance of the 2008 Silver Eagle Proof which came in at 185,232 during the first four days.

The second most popular numismatic silver item was the 2010 Silver Proof Set, with sales of 15,746.

Collectors also picked up 2,533 of the Veterans Disabled for Life dollars. Broken out, 1,809 of them were proofs and 724 were uncirculated. Their new total hit 255,108 or 72.88 percent of their maximum mintage. Right now, 19 days are left until the deadline of December 13, 2010 for orders, if not all 350,000 are sold before that date.
