US Mint Sales: Silver Eagles Top 10M, Medal of Honor Coins Lead

Bullion Silver Eagles overtook the 10 million milestone in annual sales, and the new 2011 Medal of Honor Silver Dollars led in weekly collector US Mint sales.
The United States Mint’s Authorized Purchasers took in another 668,500 American Silver Eagles at the beginning of March, which caused the coins’ year-to-date sales to topple 10 million. Right now the total rests at 10,330,500. The annual sales rank as the fifth best in the series and there are still nine and a half months left in the year.
The Medal of Honor Silver Dollar commemorative coins remained at the top of collectors’ lists, according to the latest U.S. Mint sales figures. 22,788 of the proof version and 9,962 of the uncirculated sold. The 2011 Army Silver Dollars were not far behind. Their proofs and uncirculated jumped by 7,074 and 2,324.
Recently, the US Mint halted availability of the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set as it is reviewing silver coin prices (its melt value was higher than its Mint price). That was, however, mostly before its drop in sales between February 28 and March 6. The sets fell by -129. On the other hand, the 2011 Silver Proof Set gained 11,266 and the 2010 version increased by 8,315.
