2012 Australian Koala Silver Coins Announced

Investors and collectors looking to obtain 2012 Australian Koala Silver Coins need wait just two more months, according to The Perth Mint of Australia. The Mint has indicated that the highly popular 99.9% pure silver coins will be available beginning November 1, 2011 in four different sizes.

The newest issues in the Koala silver coins series continue the Mint’s tradition of creating annually changing reverse designs. 2011 Proof Silver Eagle Suspended for Price Increase, Uncirculated Price Announced

2011 Proof Silver Eagle

The United States Mint suspended sales of its most popular numismatic coin, the 2011-W Proof Silver Eagle. When sales resume, which is expected to be soon, the new price will be $68.45, or $8.50 more. The increase relates to the upcoming 2011-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle that will debut for $60.45 in September.

The Wednesday, August 24, suspension followed behind the Friday, August 19, sales halt of two silver sets. That occurred when the precious metal surged to $42 an ounce. On Thursday, the 25th, the Mint resumed sales of the sets but not the coin. Read More…

The Perth Mint of Australia has announced plans for the pending release of the highly anticipated 2012 Australian Kookaburra Silver Coins. Those looking to add the unique bullion Kookaburra silver coins to either their portfolios or their collections can after September 1, 2011 when the Mint releases them to the public.

Three different 2012 Kookaburra coins will be struck by The Perth Mint, and each from 99.9% pure silver. There will be one ounce, ten ounce and one kilo sizes. 2011 American Silver Eagle Bullion Coin

Silver coin collectors have been busy shopping, according to the latest US Mint sales stats. Orders are maxed out for the Grand Canyon 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin, both proof and bullion Silver Eagles leaped, and 9/11 Silver Medals continued their strong advance.

Just 738 Grand Canyon silver uncirculated coins were available in the previous round, but the US Mint sold another 892. Their most recent sales total came to 27,154, or 154 more than the maximum 27,000. The final number will most likely work its way back down, however, following canceled and problem orders. 2012 Cougar Silver Coin Third in Canadian Wildlife Series

The Royal Canadian Mint (http://www.mint.ca/) announced details for the 2012 Cougar silver bullion coin, the newest strike to be released as part of its Canadian Wildlife bullion coin series. As with the other issues in the series, the coin will feature a maximum mintage of 1,000,000 and will be composed of one-ounce of .9999 fine silver.

25th Anniversary American Silver Eagle Set

Silver coin collectors will be treated to a 25th Anniversary American Silver Eagle Set. According to a recent announcement, the special limited edition 5-coin product from the United States Mint will be released this fall. United States Mint Deputy Director Richard A. Peterson announced the plans on Friday at the American Numismatic Association’s World’s Fair of Money®.

2011 Proof Silver Eagle

This already released proof will be one of the five coins within the U.S. Mint’s 25th 25th Anniversary American Silver Eagle Set which is scheduled for release in October 2011.

According to the Mint, the American Silver Eagle Set will be produced to a limited mintage of only 100,000 units and will appear late in October. Silver Set Sales Halted Again as Silver Prices Surge

2010 US Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof SetRecent increases in the precious metal markets have once again forced the United States Mint to suspend the sales of some of its silver sets. As of Friday morning, the Mint halted all 2010 Silver Proof Set and 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set transactions.

This move comes in response to silver surges above $40 an ounce that place the intrinsic melt values of the sets too close to their selling prices. Obviously, that situation was not acceptable to the Mint leading to the suspension. Read More…
