US Marshals 225th Anniversary Silver Dollar Commemorative Coins Sought

Legislation authorizing the United States Mint to strike silver dollar commemorative coins honoring the 225th anniversary of the founding of the US Marshals Service has once again been introduced in Congress. If passed and signed into law, the new coins would also feature gold and clad varieties.

The Marshals Service Star, shown centered here on the modern Marshals Service badge, would be depicted on the obverse of the gold and silver commemorative coins.
The legislation is named the United States Marshals Service 225th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Act and will allow the US Mint to produce up to 100,000 $5 gold coins, 500,000 silver dollars and 750,000 clad half dollars. Read More…
America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin Distribution and Mintage Changes

The United States Mint is handling distribution and mintage levels of the 2011 America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins differently than the 2010 versions.

For starters, the US Mint plans to launch the first of five 2011 coins in late April. The other four issues for this year will be released in staggered intervals. Last year the Mint launched all five of the 2010 silver bullion coins at once. Read More…
US Mint Sales: Silver Eagles Top 10M, Medal of Honor Coins Lead

Bullion Silver Eagles overtook the 10 million milestone in annual sales, and the new 2011 Medal of Honor Silver Dollars led in weekly collector US Mint sales.
The United States Mint’s Authorized Purchasers took in another 668,500 American Silver Eagles at the beginning of March, which caused the coins’ year-to-date sales to topple 10 million. 2011 American Silver Eagle Proof Coin Release Date

The United States Mint has scheduled a release date of June 30 for the 2011 American Silver Eagle proof coin. Previously, the US Mint had only provided a tentative launch date, stating it would be available "by July 6, 2011."
The US Mint has not published the price. The 2010-dated American Silver Eagle proof coin had a price tag of $45.95. Buyers snapped up 860,000 of them before they sold out. Given that the cost of silver is significantly higher this year, there is a good chance — if silver prices remain high — that the coins will be listed for more than $50 a piece. Read More…
US Mint Reevaluates Silver Coin Prices

Investors and coin collectors are not the only ones taking a new look at silver coins with the price of silver at levels not seen in over thirty years. The US Mint is reevaluating the prices for its silver products.

The US Mint is reevaluating the prices for its silver products, including the America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set which has been taken off sale.
In fact, the US Mint has halted sales of one of its silver related products, namely the 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set. As of last week, the set could no longer be ordered. US Mint Sales: Medal of Honor Silver Dollars Dominate in Debut

New to the United States Mint’s sales list this week are the 2011 Medal of Honor Silver Dollars, and they dominated.
They hit the market on Friday afternoon, February 25, and by Sunday, February 27, collectors bought 35,502 of them. Broken down, 25,156 proof silver dollars and 10,346 uncirculated dollars sold. Read More…
2011 Silver Eagle Bullion Sales Break Another Record in February

2011 American Silver Eagle bullion coins managed to shatter another record, adding one more to a long list of broken records accomplished by the .999 fine silver strikes over the last three years.
The US Mint recorded a total of 3,240,000 Silver Eagles pulled from its inventory by authorized purchasers in February 2011. This was more than enough to make last month the best February ever for the coins. Read More…
