2011 Silver Wolf Canadian Coin

The first silver bullion issue in a new three-year Canadian Wildlife coin series was launched this month by the Royal Canadian Mint. The 2011 Silver Wolf coin debuted on September 9, 2010.

The investment grade one-ounce .9999 fine silver bullion coin features a unique design, limited 1,000,000 mintage and a $5 face value.

It is one in a minimum of six to launch at a rate of two each year (through 2013) that will showcase a distinct Canadian wildlife theme.

The reverse of the 2011 Silver Wolf coin depicts a Silver Canadian Timber Wolf that is intently looking from a hilltop underneath a full moon. Inscriptions include CANADA, 9999 FINE SILVER, 1 OZ, and ARGENT PUR.

The obverse side features an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, created in 2003 by Canadian portrait artist Susanna Blunt. Inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, 5 DOLLARS and 2011.

The silver coins are available worldwide through the Royal Canadian Mint’s network of bullion dealers. They are priced using the same market rate as the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf bullion coin.

The next silver issue in the Canadian Wildlife series is expected to be released in early 2011.
