Both the obverse and reverse of this one ounce, 99.9% pure silver coin is struck in high relief allowing for enhanced design details.

No more than 19,000 of these silver coins in this product option will be issued. Another 1,000 will be offered in a separate product for a possible maximum mintage of 20,000 coins, which is the same as prior years. The inaugural release of the series appeared in 2010. It was met with intense collector interest, leading to a sell-out in short order. Demand for subsequent issues has also been strong.

Silver Coin Designs and Specifications

Shown on reverses of the silver coins in this series is an annually changing design of one Australia’s most iconic creatures, the kangaroo. This year’s design was completed by artist Tom Vaughan. It offers a single kangaroo set against an outback desert scene. Inscriptions found on the reverse include "AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO" and "2013 1 OZ 999 SILVER."
