Priced at $54.95, the new 2013 Girl Scouts of the USA Young Collectors Set is available straight from the US Mint online store at www.usmint.gov/catalog.

Every set has one 2013 Girl Scouts of the USA Centennial Uncirculated Silver Dollar. The coin is packaged within an information tri-fold folder designed for youngsters. The folder presents "Mint Kids" and other characters that discuss the history and centennial of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America, the organization established on March 12, 1912, by Juliette Gordon Low.

Adults could buy the sets as a gift for a Girl Scout, but also for themselves. It actually costs one dollar less than the price of the uncirculated silver dollar which is available by itself.

On February 28, 2013, the United States Mint released individual Girl Scouts Commemorative Silver Coins that celebrate the 100th anniversary of the organization. Then, the uncirculated silver dollar — the same one as in the new set — was $50.95 and the proof silver dollar was $54.95. But those prices were introductory and expired after a month. Today, the uncirculated and proof silver coins cost $59.95 and $55.95, respectively. The coins and the Young Collectors Set have a $10 surcharge added to their price. Surcharge amounts are collected for Girl Scout program development and delivery.

The 2013 Girl Scouts of the USA Young Collectors Set is a limited-edition product in that 50,000 are available. Counting the sets and the individual silver coins, not more than 350,000 may be sold since that was the amount authorized by Public Law 111-86. US Mint sales stats as of Sunday have the total amount of orders at 108,108.

Both commemorative Girl Scouts silver coins feature the same designs.

The heads side was inspired by aspects of Girl Scouting and by its mission statement: "Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place." Depicted are three young girls. They represent the different ages and diversity of the Girl Scouts of the USA. Inscriptions surrounding the girls say: COURAGE, CONFIDENCE and CHARACTER — key elements of the Girl Scouts mission statement. The 100th anniversary Trefoil symbol is found below. The tails sides of the silver coins show the iconic Profiles of Girl Scouts of the USA.
