US Mint silver coin sales statsSimilar to last week, two of three US Mint numismatic silver products declined in demand, but the newly released bullion 2010 American Silver Eagle Coins enjoyed spectacular sales.

Of the remaining three silver sets still sold by the United States Mint, only the 2009 Silver Proof Set improved as compared to their prior weekly gain, climbing 4,560 against 4,118. The sets have reached 650,453 since their release on July 17, 2009. Read more

US Mint silver coin sales statsDemand for two of the three numismatic sets currently offered by the United States Mint retreated while bullion Silver Eagles surged, according to the latest US Mint weekly sales data.

It is the end of the 2009-dated eagles. The Mint sold out of their remaining inventory on Tuesday morning. Mint authorized purchasers had ordered 236,500 more since last Wednesday's report, bringing the total sold since the beginning of 2009 to 29,134,000. That is nearly nine million more than the 2008-dated silver coins which held the previous annual record. The Mint is set to release the 2010 eagles on Tuesday, Jan. 19. Read more

2009 American Eagle Silver Bullion CoinAnyone who reads the paper or pays attention to the news on the television or the radio can tell you that precious metal demand was extremely high in 2009. Owing to this almost insatiable appetite for silver, the United States Mint revealed record sales of its American Eagle Silver Bullion coins for the year.

The final 2009 tally from the US Mint places the one ounce silver bullion at 28,766,500, a leap of over 9 million coins above the previous annual record created just the year before -- 2008 saw 19,583,500 of the Silver Eagles sold, which in itself was amazing. Previous to those two years, sales of the Eagles only broke the 10 million mark twice (in 2002 and 2006) since their introduction. Read more

US Mint silver coin sales statsNew United States Mint stats reveal that sales were lower for three of their four available silver coin products.

The 2009 US Mint Silver Proof Set was the biggest unit gainer of the collectible sets with weekly sales of 10,041. That was down from 12,136.

Collectors are purchasing fewer 2009 DC & Territories Quarters Silver Sets. The latest weekly increase stands at 1,786 compared to 2,300. The 2008-dated Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin Set was the standout with sales improving, but only by 36 from the prior week. Read more
