Shown on the reverse of the 99.99% silver coin is a traditional summertime scene. The issue appears as the third strike of 2014 for the $20 for $20 program and the thirteenth in the series overall.

As indicated by the name of the series, each coin may be purchased at its legal tender face value of $20. The affordable nature of the program; the fact that the coins are sold at face value; the composition of .9999 fine silver; and the varied reverse designs all contribute to the popularity of the series.

In fact, all but the most recent silver coins have sold out. The entire series is shown in the table below along with their mintage and month of release. A "*" indicates the coin has sold out.

Designs and Specifications of Summertime Silver Coins

Shown on the reverse of the 2014 $20 Summertime Commemorative Silver Coin is a design by Canadian artist John Mantha. It offers a summertime scene complete with a boy jumping off a dock into the water. In the background, the natural surrounding landscape can be seen along with its refection in the surface of the water.

Inscriptions on the reverse include "20 DOLLARS", "ARGENT PUR FINE SILVER 9999", "CANADA" and "2014." Mantha’s initials can also be seen to the lower right of the image.

Each coin is struck as legal tender of Canada and offers Susanna Blunt’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. "ELIZABETH II" and "D.G. REGINA" are inscribed around the portrait.
