These rimless silver coins with a special antique finish are struck as the first of three designs from the Perth’s Gods of Olympus series. Expected high demand coupled with a limited mintage of 1,500 positions the Zeus Silver Coin for a potentially quick sell-out.

"Zeus, the god of the sky and weather, law, justice, morals and fate, and the spiritual leader of both gods and men is immortalized in all his mythical glory on this Gods of Olympus – Zeus 2014 2oz Silver High Relief Coin," describes the Perth Mint. "In ancient Greek mythology, Zeus was worshiped as the supreme ruler of Mount Olympus and the Pantheon of gods that lived there."

Zeus’ image was designed by Tom Vaughan, a Perth Mint artist. It shows a high relief depiction of the Olympian god with a thunderbolt in his left hand and a scepter in his right. An eagle is seen flying overhead. A stormy sky appears in the background with "ZEUS" inscribed below. The ‘P’ mint mark for the Perth Mint is inscribed to the left with the artist’s initials of ‘TV’ found below the thunderbolt. These design elements are enhanced by the coin’s antique finish.

The Perth Mint produces these high relief silver coins as legal tender of Tuvalu, a small island nation found midway between Hawaii and Australia. The face value is "2 DOLLARS" which is inscribed on the obverse along with "2014," "TUVALU," "2 oz 999 SILVER" and "QUEEN ELIZABETH II." These inscriptions surround an effigy of the Queen by Ian Rank-Broadley.

Specifications of the silver coins are as follows:

Zeus coin is already posted as “unavailable” on Perth Mint website – I assume that this means it has already sold out. Wow, huge demand and it isn’t even 6:00 am in Perth as of yet, must have been mainly foreign buyers. Interested to know what readers figure the secondary market price will be for this coin now.
    Cheers from Canada.
