Mintage for the coin is extremely limited with no more than 500 available for sale. Each showcases the 2015 koala image found on other Perth Mint silver coins.

Koalas are indigenous to Australia and found in the coastal areas of the eastern and southern areas of the country. Surviving on eucalyptus leaves, the koala spends most of its time sleeping in the branches of the trees.

Designs and Specifications

A single adult koala is featured on the reverse of the kilo silver proof coin as designed by Perth Mint artist Ing Ing Jong. The marsupial is shown sitting in a fork of a eucalyptus tree and surrounded by a rural landscape. Above, AUSTRALIAN KOALA is inscribed. Below, we find the additional inscriptions of 2014 1 KILO 999 SILVER.

Struck as legal tender of Australia, the obverse includes the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley and inscriptions of ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA and the face value of 30 DOLLARS.

This coin is massive weighing in at 1001.002 grams, with a diameter of 100.60 mm and a thickness of 14.60 mm. Each has 32.151 troy ounces of 99.9% pure silver.
