The days are officially numbered for 2011 silver dollars, 2010 silver sets and several other United States Mint numismatic products.
This week the United States Mint created a ‘Last Opportunity‘ section on its online store that offers order deadlines for more than a dozen products, including a December 16 end date for all four of this year’s commemorative silver dollars and a sales stoppage of December 30 for the 2010 Silver Proof Set and 2010 ATB Silver Quarters Proof Set. US Mint Sales: Commemorative Silver Coins Lead
October 6, 2011 by Rhonda Kay · Leave a Comment

Weekly sales numbers from the United States Mint revealed the good, the bad, and the ugly. The good were the commemorative silver coins, the sales leaders. The bad were the three America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins. And the ugly was a decline made by the 2011-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle.
The total fell for the uncirculated Silver Eagle by a remarkable 11,476. They went from 194,000 prior to the US Mint’s temporary suspension to 182,524 in the latest report. The coins are still unavailable, but given the four silver annual sets returned this week from the same suspension and without a price change, it seems likely that the uncirculated coin and other suspended products will also be available again sooner versus later. October 4, 2011 by Darrin Lee Unser · 3 Comments
The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) continues its highly successful program of offering a $20 coin at face value with the release of the $20 Silver Canoe Commemorative Coin. If the previous strike of the series is any indicator, collectors will have to move fast to order before it sells out.

This series debuted earlier this year when the Royal Canadian Mint originally offered the $20 Pure Silver Maple Leaf Commemorative Coin. Despite being initially sold only to Canadians, the RCM recorded a sell-out of the entire mintage of 200,000 Maple Leafs in just twenty-nine days. That feat is more impressive when considering that a customer order limit of three was in place. Read More…

2011 American Silver Eagle Bullion Coin
American Silver Eagle bullion coins proved to be an example of opposites in September. Sales of the bullion coin were markedly slow in the first two-thirds of the month but sky-rocketed in the remaining days, bringing the total number sold to 4,460,500.
The 4.46+ million in sales qualifies the month as the absolute best September. More astonishing, September entered the record books as the second best month ever for Silver Eagle sales. And that dates back to the coin’s start in 1986. The month ranks immediately behind January which stands at a lofty record height of 6,422,000. Read More…

For a second time, legislation has been introduced that, if passed into law, would authorize the U.S. Mint to strike gold, clad, and silver commemorative coins to honor the fifth President of the United States, James Monroe.
Entitled the James Monroe Commemorative Coin Act and numbered H.R. 2968, the bill was reintroduced by Rep. Rob Wittman, R-VA on September 20, 2011. The legislation is Wittman’s second try following a nearly identical bill, H.R. 4329, that he introduced in December, 2009. Read More…
US Mint Sales: Gettysburg 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin Debuts
September 27, 2011 by Rhonda Kay · Leave a Comment

The first 2011 America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin debuted quite a bit slower than previous issues, but one reason might have more to do with price and intrinsic value than with being the sixth coin of the series.
The collector Gettysburg coin launched Thursday, September 22. Excited fans of the super-sized .999 fine silver coins captured 9,549 of them in the first five days. As a comparison, the Mount Hood opening figure was 14,759 in four days, but recent events could be dampening current sales. Read More…
