US Mint silver coin salesDemand for 2009-dated silver proof sets improved while 2010 individual silver coins faded, according to the latest weekly United States Mint sales report.

Sales for 2010 American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollars slowed once again after experiencing a slight spike in the prior figures. 1,791 proof and uncirculated were added, compared to the previous 2,696. The United States Mint’s 2010 Boy Scouts of American Uncirculated Silver Dollar coins are officially gone.

The coins sold out last week, but the U.S. Mint was still allowing customers to join a waiting list as a possible means to get them — if an older older prior to the sellout was cancelled, a new waiting list order could get processed.

On Thursday afternoon, however, the waiting list option disappeared from the Mint’s online store, and the coins moved to the "No Longer Available" category.

The latest Mint sales figures revealed that 107,292 of the uncirculated dollars were purchased by collectors as of Sunday, April 25, 2010. Read More…

Silver Prices Soar in April 2010

Weekly Silver UpdateSilver prices soared during the month of April, rising 6.4% in both London and New York. The metal rallied late in the week after retreating earlier despite soaring gold prices. Silver typically follows gold.

However, while gold was lifted as a safe-haven investment over concerns of widening sovereign debt issues in Europe, those same issues placed downward pressure on industrial metals like silver, platinum and palladium. Read More…

US Mint silver coin salesThe latest United States Mint sales report is a mixed bag when comparing weekly gains in silver proof sets and silver coins.

2010 American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollars enjoyed a stronger showing. Collectors purchased more last week than the prior one. The proof and uncirculated $1 coins grew by 2,696. The last report had them up 2,284. As of Sunday, the commemoratives reached 196,469, or 56.1% of their allotted 350,000 mintage. Read More…

In a move that is not too much of a surprise for many collectors, the 2010 Boy Scouts of American Uncirculated Silver Dollar coins have been placed on a "waiting list only" status.

Hot Springs National Park Quarter Introduces America the Beautiful Coins

The United States Mint on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, introduced the first coin in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program, the Hot Springs National Park Quarter.

The quarter-dollar was released during an event at the Arkansas park on its 178th anniversary. This same coin, but struck in silver, will be featured in two U.S. Mint products later this year.

A "duplicate" of it will also be released as the very first America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin.

Silver Reverses Losses, Rises 2.9% in New York

Weekly Silver UpdateSilver prices in New York reversed prior week losses and rose 2.9% for the week. Earlier setting London silver, however, finished down 2.5%.
