Mark TwainMark Twain commemorative silver dollars and $5 gold coins will be issued by the United States Mint in 2016, as directed by legislation signed into law this week by President Obama.

On December 4, 2012, the President signed the Mark Twain Commemorative Coin Act. It directs the Secretary of the Treasury, and thus the U.S. Mint, to strike and release up to 350,000 silver dollars and a maximum of 100,000 $5 gold coins in commemoration of the famous author.

These gold and silver coins will be available in both proof and uncirculated qualities. Read More…

Sales of bullion American Eagle silver coins remain remarkable as last month was the second strongest November in the series 27-year history, data from the United States Mint shows. 2012 is within striking distance of over-taking the second place slot for annual Silver Eagle sales.

The U.S. Mint recorded November sales of 3,159,500 for the 99.9% pure silver coins. The total is 6,500 more than the previous month and more than double sales of 1,384,000 in the same period last year. Read More…

Silver Prices Advance in November Despite Final Weekly Loss

U.S. silver prices moved solidly higher in November despite an ending weekly loss.

Silver looked to pad gains for the week and month when it reached a seven-week high on Thursday, but prices plunged Friday. In the end-of-month settlement, silver prices for March delivery declined $1.15, or 3.4%, to $33.28 an ounce on the Comex in New York. Read More…
