Canadian 2012 $20 Silver Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Coin for $20

The Royal Canadian Mint has launched the fourth strike in the extremely popular "Exchange $20 for $20" program with the release of the $20 Silver Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Coin.

Like the other three releases within the series, each fine silver $20 Diamond Jubilee commemorative is sold by the Mint at the face value.

The double effigy coin features a likeness of Queen Elizabeth II on both sides. Shown on the obverse is a portrait of the Queen from the early days of her reign with the reverse depicting a modern portrait. Read More…

Sales of America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Coins Fairly Steady

It has been one month since the United States Mint updated the number of America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coin sales through its network of Authorized Purchasers (AP’s), meaning none have apparently sold since early April. The collector uncirculated versions, on the other hand, have been selling at a fairly steady pace directly to the public — although not like when they were first introduced.

2,703 of the collector grade America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins sold between April 2 and April 30. In the latest weekly round of U.S. Mint sales figures, another 343 sold. Chickasaw 5 Ounce Silver Coins were the best seller of the five with an advance of 90. Read More…

American Silver Eagle Bullion Coin Sales Retreat in April 2012

Continuing a trend that began late last year, April sales of American Silver Eagle bullion coins maintained a roller coaster pattern, falling for the month after rebounding in the previous one.

According to the latest published data, United States Mint authorized purchasers ordered 1,520,000 Silver Eagles last month. The amount is 40.2% lower than the March tally of 2,542,000 and down 46.1% from April of 2011. Read More…

2012 Australian Koala 5 Ounce Silver Proof Coin Available

For the second time in two years, the Perth Mint has released a 5 ounce numismatic strike as part of the popular Koala silver coin series. The 2012 Australian Koala 5 Ounce Silver Proof Coin is available now directly from the Perth.

US Mint Silver Coin Sales Stronger at April’s End

The total units of numismatic silver coin sales were higher in this round of U.S. Mint sales compared to the prior one, when the nearly three week old 2012 Proof Silver Eagles are not included in the comparison. Of the seven products that outperformed, the proof Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar experienced the biggest improvement. Its sales gain went from 866 previously to 1,142.

Collectors are still interested in the 2012-W Proof Silver Eagles, with another vigorous 14,242 recently ordered, but that figure naturally declined from the 29,117 in the prior round. Weekly numbers are expected to slowly dwindle after a fresh release, and clearly the new Eagles have not hit their plateau yet.

2012 Australian Kookaburra High Relief Silver Coin

Appearing as a new issue from the Perth Mint of Australia is the proof 2012 Australian Kookaburra High Relief Silver Coin. The release marks the first time the Perth has chosen to offer a Kookaburra coin in high relief, although the series itself has a long history.

Kookaburra silver coins were introduced by the Perth Mint in 1990 and are featured annually as bullion products. The most recent 2012-dated coins made their public appearance last September in three different sizes — one ounce, ten ounce and one kilo. Read More…
