Silver products dominated U.S. Mint sales stats last week. This week’s sales report shows interest in them mostly down, due likely or at least in large part to the release of two sets featuring clad 2013 White Moutain America the Beautiful Quarters and clad 2013 Presidential $1 Coins. Collectors keyed on these newer, non-silver sets.

The 2012-P Acadia 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin has sold out

Most interesting in U.S. Mint silver products this week is the sellout of the 2012-P Acadia National Park 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin. The Acadia silver coin launched on August 13, 2012. The U.S. Mint called its sell out on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Sales stats as of Monday, nearly two days earlier, had its total at 14,716. That should rise just a tad more.

Currently, sales of the Acadia silver coin rank the lowest of the no longer offered 2010 – 2012 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins. Second lowest with sales of 14,863 is the Hawaii silver coin which sold out in January. It would appear these two coins, and probably the Chaco Culture silver coin and Denali silver coin, have production totals of 15,000. When they were first released, their mintage maximums were stated at 25,000.

In returning to some weekly sales, U.S. Mint sales stats show these products as the three silver leaders:

  • 2013-W Proof American Silver Eagles (+16,940 to 320,898)
  • 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set (+2,404 to 70,173)
  • 2012 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set (+1,140 to 43,468)

For a bit of comparison, last week’s U.S. Mint sales report showed the seven day gains for the 2013-W Proof American Silver Eagles at 23,506; the ATB Quarters Silver Proof Set at 3,237 and the 2012 Limited Edition Silver Proof Set at 756.

Finally, bullion American Silver Eagles crossed the 10 million milestone this week for a month-to-date total of just over 2.5 million. The buying pace is much slower this month compared to the all-time record breaking 7.5 million moved in January.
