This newest America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin is the third among five appearing this year, and it honors Great Basin National Park located in east central Nevada.

At $154.95, its price is the lowest of any debuting coin in the series. This is due to the drop in price of silver on the London Fix. As with all coins composed of a precious metal, the U.S. Mint reserves the right to adjust the price if changes in the market occur. It did that earlier this month, with all the 5 ounce silver coins dropping $25.

Designs on 2013-P Great Basin National Park Silver Coins

Displayed on the reverse of this exceptionally large, three inch diameter coin is a single Bristlecone Pine tree growing on a rocky glacial moraine. Bristlecone pines are considered by some the oldest trees on Earth. Inscriptions are GREAT BASIN, NEVADA, 2013 and E PLURIBUS UNUM. The designer for the image on the reverse was Ronald D. Sanders, and the engraver was Renata Gordon.

The well-known 1932 profile portrait by John Flanagan of George Washington, the first President of the United States, graces the obverse, as it does on all of the America the Beautiful coins. Inscriptions are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and QUARTER DOLLAR.

On the silver coin’s edge are the markings of .999 FINE SILVER 5.0 OUNCE, which describes the fineness and weight of the coin in troy ounces.

Bullion Coin vs. This Collector Coin

To differentiate these collector coins from the bullion versions that the U.S. Mint began selling last month to its network of "Authorized Purchasers," the United States Mint places the "P" mint mark below the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. The "P" denotes its production at the Philadelphia Mint.

The collector silver coins are also given the uncirculated finish, encapsulated in a clear plastic holder for protection, and packaged within a presentation case that includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
