2015 Homestead Silver Coin Sales Open at 16,216

Early sales of the brand new 2015-P Homestead National Monument of America Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins hit 16,216 by Sunday after launching on Thursday, March 5, per the United States Mint sales stats.

This is the first of five extra-large, three-inch diameter silver coins that the U.S. Mint will release in 2015 and the 26th overall in the America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin series. Compared to its predecessors, initial sales were analogous to the Everglades silver coin in November at 16,243 but below the first four 2014-dated coins, which started with 20,000 or more over a similar period.

As for the bullion version of the Homestead silver coin, that has been on the market since February 17, the U.S. Mint’s network of Authorized Purchasers scooped up another 8,000 during this past week. This jump in sales moved the coin’s total up to 28,000, making its mintage already higher than three of the five 2014-dated bullion coins.

Other notable standouts on the weekly charts were 2015 U.S. Marshals Service Silver Dollars. Their cumulative numbers climbed by more than 7,000 during their fifth full week — a surge that was double that of the prior week. Broken out, the proof silver commemoratives outpaced the uncirculated strikes 4,919 to 2,037. The Three Coin Set edged up by 83.
