2015-P Bombay Hook Silver Coin Sales Start at 14,433

When the 2015-P Bombay Hook Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin debuted on October 8, early sales were expected to be similar to previous issues in the series this year. That didn’t quite happen. United States Mint sales figures revealed 14,433 sold by Sunday, October 11.

This opening figure came in behind the three prior five ounce silver coin launches for this year. Collectible Blue Ridge Parkway silver coins kicked off with 15,295 in July, Kisatchie National Forest issues opened at 15,622 in April, and Homestead National Monument strikes began 16,216 in March. Those same three coins have current sales of 17,321; 18,077; and 19,616.
The collectible Bombay Hook silver coin was the Mint’s weekly best seller. It was followed by the 2015-W Proof American Silver Eagle. Consumers picked up 12,780 of the one ounce coins, which moved the Silver Eagle’s total to 577,657.
Also, the U.S. Mint this week allocated sales of bullion American Silver Eagles to 1,000,000 coins as compared to the 1,075,000 that was allowed a week earlier. The Mint did not report any sales on Wednesday but 845,500 of them were ordered on Tuesday. That leaves 154,500 left for this week. To date for the year, the Mint has sold 37,975,000 Silver Eagles and that continues a record pace.
