2016 ATB Quarters Silver Set Inaugural Sales

The U.S. Mint’s newest offering, the 2016 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set, was the brightest star in the agency’s latest round of weekly sales stats.

Collectors ordered 53,791 sets between their launch on Monday, March 7 and Sunday, March 13. The five coins in this collectible set are struck in 90% silver, which totals 0.904 troy ounces of silver. (More details here.) The start was the quickest since the silver set from 2012.
In related news, the U.S. Mint placed its weekly allocation level for bullion American Silver Eagles at 1,000,000 for the third week in a row. All of them were snapped up by Wednesday, so no more will be available until Monday. Year-to-date sales clocked in at 13,000,000 coins, which is 22.8% higher than the same time in record year 2015.
