2011-P Chickasaw National Recreation Area 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin

Chickasaw 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin sales reached 8,658 in five days

Debut sales of the 2011-P Chickasaw National Recreation Area 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin for Oklahoma were released by the United States Mint and they proved better than expected. Other big hitters in this week’s U.S. Mint sales report was the 2011-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle and the 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set.

The tenth America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin finally hit the market, and between its launch on Thursday, February 9, and Monday, February 13, the collector Chickasaw coin started off with 8,658 in sales.

Fans of the .999 fine Chickasaw silver coin grabbed nearly one thousand more in the first five days than the prior Vicksburg coin did during its six-day start in January, at 7,861. It was a smidgen short, however, in bettering the debuting sales of the Olympic coin, which started last November with 8,662.

Behind the new 5 ounce coin was the uncirculated Silver Eagle. Demand, however, eased from the 14,286 Eagles purchased in the previous report down to 5,079 in the current one. With the latest jump, their new sales total has risen to 265,122.

The third most desirable numismatic silver product from the U.S. Mint was the 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set. The set’s sales shot up another 3,428 to make its new total hit 78,269. But it too suffered a slight decline in demand after having advanced by 4,422 in the prior round. The set has been available since January 10.

In the bullion arena, sales also cooled. The U.S. Mint’s network of Authorized Purchasers bought just 165,000 Silver Eagles since last Tuesday, February 7. The current monthly total climbed to 835,000 so the new year-to-date total is 58,000 shy of hitting the seven million mark.
