Harpers Ferry 5 oz Silver Coin Sales Slide

While sales of the 2016 Silver Proof Set advanced the most in the silver category of this latest round of United States Mint sales stats — as has often been the case this year, the 2016-P Harpers Ferry National Historical Park Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin took a nose dive.

Sales of Harpers Ferry silver coins plummeted by 1,315 units to settle at 15,449. The loss was nearly as much as the gains it made over the last three weeks, considering one month ago its opening sales number was 15,140. Composed of .999 fine silver, this collectible stands out with its massive three-inch diameter. It is the 33rd issue in the America the Beautiful series.

Low demand for bullion American Silver Eagles continues this week, as their sales slowly moved in the first half of this month. Only 55,000 were ordered between Monday and Wednesday, and for all of August so far, just 380,000 coins have sold. Year-to-date sales are sitting at 28,000,500.
