Debut sales of the 2012-P Chaco Culture National Historical Park 5 Ounce Silver Coin reached 6,365

By July 16, the U.S. Mint had sold 6,365 Chaco Culture Silver Coins, but its start was a tad slower than the previous issue. When the collector El Yunque silver coin debuted, 6,514 were purchased in the first six days.

Earlier in the year, 2011-dated Vicksburg and Chickasaw silver coins experienced higher demand. Vicksburg’s opened with 7,861 in January and Chickasaw’s started with 8,658 in February.

One silver coin, which has been on sale since March 5, crossed a major milestone — 100K. A weekly gain of 1,284 orders, in this latest round, pushed sales of the individual proof Star-Spangled Banner Silver Dollar up to 100,508. The commemorative placed fifth among the weekly top sellers.

Three more milestones could occur in the near future. The sales total for the proof Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar is 1,800 orders away from hitting 100K, the 2011 Uncirculated Silver Eagles have 3,259 to go to hit 300K, and the 2012-W Proof Silver Eagles, which were the third highest selling items of the week, are now only 7,211 from reaching 500K. (Note: The proof Silver Eagles have been unavailable for repricing since Friday.)
