2012-W American Silver Eagle Proof Coin

Sales of the 2012-W Proof Silver Eagle coin jumped to 573,967

Demand strengthened for the U.S. Mint’s most popular numismatic product made of silver, the 2012-W Proof Silver Eagle coin, but weakened a bit for other silver coins and sets.

While silver prices were higher and conducive to silver coin sales, last week was without new product releases to lend further support.

The 2012-W Proof Silver Eagle coin garnered the most attention with a weekly sales increase of 11,699 after 9,542 were ordered previously. With this latest jump, the new total for these silver coins that are sold individually hit 573,967. The proof coin has been on the market since April 12, 2012.

Taking over the second best-selling spot was the 2012 Silver Proof Set, beating out the younger Making American History Coin and Currency Set with gains of 3,564 versus 2,979. Released August 7th, the coin and currency set features a 2012-S Proof Silver Eagle coin and a unique $5 bill.

Then, not far behind was the individually sold 2012-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle coin, advancing 2,479. This is the same coin that will be within the Annual Uncirculated $1 Coin Set, which goes on sale September 6, 2012.

Rounding out the top five was the 2012-P Acadia National Park 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin. In its second full week of availability, collectors purchased 1,074 more of them, bringing their total sold up to 7,626.
