United States Mint customer reports are emerging that 25th Anniversary American Silver Eagle Sets are beginning to ship. Customer orders are being updated by the Mint with a message: "Your order request has been shipped." These orders also include UPS tracking numbers with delivery expectations as early as Wednesday.

Buyers who were able to place early orders are now being rewarded with receiving them first, as is the Mint practice. The news is another disappointing reminder to collectors who were unable to make a purchase. All 100,000 anniversary sets sold out within five hours on October 27, with many collectors blaming the Mint for how they were rolled out and for not getting one. Read More…

Canadian Highway of Heroes Silver Commemorative Coin Available

The Royal Canadian Mint has issued the 2011 Highway of Heroes Silver Commemorative Coin which celebrates a grassroots movement responsible for honoring Canada’s fallen servicemen and servicewomen known as the Highway of Heroes. A $20 surcharge on the sale of each commemorative coin will be forwarded to the Afghanistan Repatriation Memorial and the Military Families Fund.

The buzz is loud for the 25th Anniversary American Silver Eagle Set.

Expected and now realized, the collecting community is abuzz with talk of the commotion surrounding the sellout of the 25th Anniversary American Silver Eagle Set. Two newly developed events on Thursday percolated to the top of collectors’ discussions.

1.) Taking heat from collectors unable to get their hands on a set after the limited 100,000 sold out in mere hours following its launch, the United States Mint has undertaken "an aggressive" review of its release.

2.) For those who were able to order a 25th Anniversary American Silver Eagle Set and now want to flip at least one for a profit, eBay is apparently throwing a wrench into the works. Read More…

Fewer Silver Eagle bullion coins were purchased in October than the previous month

October Silver Eagle bullion coin sales were off considerably from the previous month, but still solid. According to the United States Mint, authorized purchasers ordered 3,064,000 during the month, a level that is down 31.3% from September — the second best month of all-time.

October’s total, previous to the last few years, would have raised a few eyebrows. But with American Silver Eagles registering huge advances since 2008, October could only crawl its way up to the 14th best ever month. Read More…

Competing for the collectible sales spotlight last week was the 2011-P Glacier 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin, released Tuesday, and 25th Anniversary American Silver Eagle Set, released Thursday. The anniversary set obviously won, as all 100,000 units were ordered in the first five hours and they sold out.

The collector Glacier coin, on the other hand, garnered 10,680 orders by Monday, October 31, out of 35,000 available strikes. Its seven day debut sales were mostly in line with the opening figures for the previous issue in the America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin series, which was the 2011-P Gettysburg coin that started with 9,549 in five days. House Approves Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coins

Legislation calling for National Baseball Hall of Fame commemorative coins in gold, silver and clad moved a major step closer to becoming law Wednesday. The U.S. House of Representatives put the National Baseball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coin Act to vote and it easily passed by a margin of 463-3.

With a similar thumbs up vote in the U.S. Senate added with the President’s signature, the Act, numbered H.R. 2527, would become law and direct the United States Mint to strike up to 50,000 $5 gold coins, 400,000 silver dollars and 750,000 clad half-dollars for one year beginning on January 1, 2015.
