Collectors purchased fewer numismatic silver coins, the latest United States Mint weekly sales stats showed, but it revealed robust figures for 2011 Silver Eagle bullion coins. In fact the only two products that exceeded their prior sales increases were the Silver Eagle coins and the 2011 America the Beautiful Silver Quarters Set.

The United States Mint revealed that the 2011 American Silver Eagle proof coin will be listed for a price of $59.95 on its June 30 release. As with most products containing precious metal, however, the amount is subject to change should silver make a huge directional swing up or down.

In an earlier article, Silver Coins Today predicted the price for the Silver Eagle Proof would start out around $60 after looking at where silver stood and now stands. One ounce of the white metal had soared to 31-year highs in recent months, and prices are currently spending time around $37 an ounce. The United States Mint in June will release two new silver coins for collectors and possibly a 5 ounce silver bullion coin intended for investors.

The Mint will make available the Yosemite National Park 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin on Thursday, June 9, and it will start selling the 2011 American Silver Eagle Proof Coin on Thursday, June 30. The silver coins will debut well, since both series have strong track records.

The Yosemite Silver Uncirculated Coin is the third in the 2010 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin series. Its list price is likely to be $279.95, the same as the Hot Springs and Yellowstone silver coins. Read More…
