US Mint Sales: 2011 Silver Eagle Fever Nears 20 Million

Collectors purchased fewer numismatic silver coins, the latest United States Mint weekly sales stats showed, but it revealed robust figures for 2011 Silver Eagle bullion coins. In fact the only two products that exceeded their prior sales increases were the Silver Eagle coins and the 2011 America the Beautiful Silver Quarters Set.

2011 American Silver Eagle Proof Coin Price Announced

The United States Mint revealed that the 2011 American Silver Eagle proof coin will be listed for a price of $59.95 on its June 30 release. As with most products containing precious metal, however, the amount is subject to change should silver make a huge directional swing up or down.

In an earlier article, Silver Coins Today predicted the price for the Silver Eagle Proof would start out around $60 after looking at where silver stood and now stands. One ounce of the white metal had soared to 31-year highs in recent months, and prices are currently spending time around $37 an ounce. 2011 Silver Eagle Bullion Coins Race to Record in May

Investors in May 2011 turned to American Silver Eagle bullion coins in record numbers even as silver prices suffered a marked decline from the thirty-one year highs seen in the previous month.

According to the United States Mint, its Authorized Purchasers ordered 3,653,500 of the investment grade strikes last month. This was more than enough to qualify it as the best May ever in sales. US Mint Sales: Yellowstone Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin Sells Out

Yes, collectors are interested in the America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins. The second coin, honoring Yellowstone National Park, reached its maximum of 27,000 orders and officially sold out by its 16th day. The United States Mint listed the item on its "No Longer Available" web page yesterday afternoon.

Two US Silver Coins Debut in June 2011

The United States Mint in June will release two new silver coins for collectors and possibly a 5 ounce silver bullion coin intended for investors.

The Mint will make available the Yosemite National Park 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin on Thursday, June 9, and it will start selling the 2011 American Silver Eagle Proof Coin on Thursday, June 30. The silver coins will debut well, since both series have strong track records.

The Yosemite Silver Uncirculated Coin is the third in the 2010 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin series. Its list price is likely to be $279.95, the same as the Hot Springs and Yellowstone silver coins. Read More…

San Francisco 2011 Silver Eagle Coins Minted

American Silver Eagle Bullion Coins have once again been struck at the United States Mint facility in San Francisco, a responsibility that had been reserved solely for the West Point Mint during the last decade.

The United States Mint announced the news in a press statement on Thursday, May 27, 2011 and said the change was precipitated by continued unprecedented demand levels for Silver Eagles.
