While these changes will be transparent for the average investor who buys the coins for their portfolio or for collectors adding to their collection, they will affect any business firms that are interested in applying to become a purchaser under the program.

Since the inception of the American Silver Eagle series in 1986, and recently applicable to the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins debuting this year, the United States Mint has refrained from selling its silver bullion products directly to the public. Precious metals moved mostly as a group in the last several days, following gold which sank as the U.S. dollar showed strength against other world currencies. Weekly Silver UpdateU.S. silver prices have registered gains for five straight weeks. The metal not only continues to rise, but it has also outperformed gold and platinum by huge margins.

On Friday, silver futures for December delivery retreated for the second time this week, dipping 14.7 cents, or 0.6 percent, to settle at $24.288 an ounce on the Comex in New York. US Mint Sales: Silver Eagles Ascend, Silver Quarters Surprise

US Mint silver coin sales Demand for bullion American Silver Eagle coins continued their stable climb. However, collector silver coins slipped from higher points again, United States Mint sales data revealed. For a second week in a row, just one numismatic product outpaced its prior gain as others slowed.
