2012 Silver Proof Set Available for $67.95

On Monday, June 4, at 12 noon ET, the United States Mint made the 2012 Silver Proof Set available. Pricing for the set came to $67.95, after the U.S. Mint added nearly $30 for the premium based on the current price of silver at $28.16 per ounce.

The 2012 Star-Spangled Banner Bicentennial Silver Dollar Set is now available for $53.95. It includes one proof version of the Star-Spangled Banner Silver Coin.

This information is now available thanks to a pricing notice issued today in the National Archives which will also appear tomorrow in the Federal Register. Silver Prices Tumble 10.5% in May, yet American Silver Eagle Coins Rally

Silver Update

U.S. silver prices fell sharply in May as investors turned toward the safety of the dollar and away from commodities and stocks. Chunks of investment money did gravitate to the American Silver Eagle as the 99.9% fine silver bullion coin logged its best monthly performance since January.

In closing out the month on Thursday, silver prices for July delivery declined 22.6 cents, or 0.8% to $27.76 an ounce on the Comex in New York. Silver prices hit an intraday low of $27.51 an ounce and touched a high of $28.19 an ounce. Read More…

Sales Improve for US Mint Silver Coins

2012-W American Silver Eagle Proof Coin

Several silver coins and related collector products from the United States Mint outperformed their prior weekly sales, including two of the three top sellers.

Leading U.S. Mint sales were 2012-W Proof Silver Eagle coins. On the heels of the 14,449 ordered in the previous round came another wave of 13,733 orders. This latest push put the new total at 395,458 and only 4,542 away from the 400K milestone. Read More…
