Today, May 29, 2012, the United States Mint made available its 2012-P El Yunque National Forest 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin at a price of $204.95.

US Mint Updated Release Schedule Includes Silver Coins and Sets

New product release dates have been published by the United States Mint through an update to its online product schedule. More than a dozen products will launch between now and August. A handful of them feature popular silver coins and sets.

2012 Star-Spangled Banner Bicentennial Silver Dollar Set
Among those in the coin category is the first of the 2012-dated America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins. Three of the five have been added to the release schedule. Those honoring El Yunque National Forest in PR, Chaco Culture National Historical Park in NM and Acadia National Park in ME are expected out on respective dates of May 29, July 9 and August 13. 2012 America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Coins Debut, Prices and Release Dates

After almost six months into the year, orders are being accepted by the United States Mint this week for its investment-grade 2012 America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Bullion Coins. The bureau has also scheduled release dates and set the prices for its collector 2012 America the Beautiful 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins.

The designs seen on these 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters are the same as those on the 5 ounce silver coins
Both series of coins bear the same obverse and reverse designs that duplicate those of the correspondingly named America the Beautiful Quarters. But the silver coins uniquely offer 99.9% silver purity, a 5 ounce weight, a diameter of 3 inches and edge letterings of "999 FINE SILVER 5.0 OUNCE." Read More…
9/11 Silver Medal Sales Erupt, West Point Issue Tops 100,000

Three silver products erupted in the latest batch of U.S. Mint weekly sales stats. The best performer was the 2012 Proof Silver Eagle coin, but the most notable was the 9/11 Silver Medal from West Point. The third, which was a Star-Spangled Banner silver dollar, was less jaw-dropping but still a nice jolt in sales.
Issued on April 12, the 2012 Proof Silver Eagle is expected to lead, but the latest increase was nearly 4,000 more than the prior round. 14,449 were purchased compared to 10,490 previously. The new total hit 381,725. Read More…
Cutty Sark Clipper Ship Featured on Silver Proof Coin

The Perth Mint of Australia has issued the fifth and final silver coin in the Ships That Changed the World series. The Cutty Sark Silver Proof Coin is available now and continues the storied tale of the Cutty Sark which dates back over a century.
Built in 1869, the clipper ship would start off in service to the tea trade. As part of that commercial venture, competitions were held seeking the fastest transit times from China to London. The most famous of these races saw the Cutty Sark pitted against the Thermopylae in 1872. Read More…
Sales of US Silver Coins at 4-Month High as Silver Prices Hit 2012 Lows

Physical demand for United States Mint silver coins soared this week as silver hit its lowest price of the year.
Silver prices continued to retreat this week, tumbling to new 2012 lows as the white metal moved toward $27 an ounce on Wednesday — $27.196 for July futures in New York and at $27.250 for the London Fix.

Sales Decline for Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar Defenders of Freedom Set

In one week, the 2012 Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar Defenders of Freedom Set lost 2,709 in sales. Its total retreated from 46,436 in the previous round of United States Mint sales stats to 43,727 in the latest batch of sales numbers.
Possible reasons for the sharp decrease in sales include customer returns, cancellations, and accounting adjustments. Interestingly, shipping of the Defenders of Freedom Set has been delayed until August 14, per the United States Mint website. Read More…
