US Marshals Service Silver Coins Storm Mint Sales

US Marshals Service 225th Anniversary Commemorative Coins dominated the latest United States Mint sales stats.

Inaugural sales numbers show consumers tracked down 101,956 of the individual coins and another 9,901 of the Three-Coin Proof Sets. Of those single coins, more than half were silver dollars.

The commemoratives launched last Thursday, January 29. Most buyers pursued the proof silver dollars and proof clad half dollars. The gold issues, being the most expensive, struggled to capture 15% of the program’s cumulative sales.

In the shadow of the commemoratives was another debuting product, the 2015 Congratulations Set featuring a 2015 Proof American Eagle Silver Coin. It hit the market on Monday, January 26 for $50.95. Opening sales reached 733.
