US Mint silver coin salesBuyers were all over bullion and numismatic silver products this past week, as sales spiked in the latest round of United States Mint data figures. Four of the items more than doubled their prior week’s gains.

The popular 2010 Silver Proof Set was on fire. Its weekly sales had been slowing consistently since its release on August 26, but that trend ended. The US Mint sold 19,828 of the sets, compared to 8,949 previously. Its new year-to-date total topped 300K by reaching 317,320.

The America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set was another popular item. 2,732 were scooped up, which was a solid gain over the prior 1,957.

Following close behind the silver quarters was the proof American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollar. They added 2,173, registering their highest weekly gain since late June. The previous addition had been 799. The uncirculated version also tacked on a few extra sales, jumping ahead 477. Its previous weekly increase was only 175.

Finally, Bullion American Silver Eagles showed strength following weeks of slowing demand. The eagle coins jumped 655,000, compared to 245,000 in the previous week and 205,000 during the week before that. The new September total rose to 1,045,000. Still, that is a tiny number compared to past months of this year.
