2017 Bullion Silver Eagles Hit 5.1 Million in January

January 2017 went down in the history books as the 9th best-selling month to date for bullion American Silver Eagle, which debuted in 1986. Sales reached 5,127,500. This year’s coin was introduced on January 9.
Bullion 2017 American Silver Eagles logged January sales of more than 5.1 million.
Comparatively, January totals are usually pretty high, especially when the U.S. Mint runs out of Silver Eagles early in December. The supply of 2016-dated Eagles dried up in the first full week of December, so its monthly total came to just 240,000. Last year’s coin reached sales of 5,954,500 in January.
On the numismatic silver front, the proof 2017 Lions Clubs International Centennial Silver Dollar was the top seller in latest round of U.S. Mint stats with 6,468 orders. They were followed by the 2016-W Proof Silver Eagle, which added 1,975 in sales. In the shadow of the two proofs was the uncirculated 2017 Lions Clubs Silver Dollar. Consumers scooped up 1,855 of them.
The table below shows the latest sales stats for collector coins and related silver products from the U.S. Mint. Sunday, January 29, is the as of date for the standard collectibles and Friday, Feb 3, is the as of date for the bullion products.
