2010 Olympic Silver Maple Leaf Bullion CoinLaunching the third and final issue of the world's first series of bullion coins honoring the spirit of the Olympic Games, the Royal Canadian Mint has released the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games Silver Maple Leaf bullion coin. Before this series launched, no other mint in the world had produced bullion issues with an Olympic theme.

Featured on the reverse of these new Olympic coins is an action pose of an ice hockey player ready to hit a puck. On each side of the player is a maple leaf, which has been incorporated on the Royal Canadian Mint's bullion coins since 1979. The design is attributed to a collaboration between the Mint's Bullion and Refinery and Engraving teams.

"The Royal Canadian Mint is very proud to produce gold and silver bullion coins which stand out from the competition and capture the attention of the marketplace," said Ian E. Bennett, President and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint while introducing the new coins.

"The Mint has been delighted by investor and collector response to the first two issues of its Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games Gold and Silver Maple Leaf bullion coins and is looking forward to a repeat success as its newest Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games bullion coins are launched with only months remaining before the excitement of the 2010 Winter Games."

The 2008 issue coin was the first in the series and contained the logo of the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games overlapping the iconic maple leaf. The 2009 coin was designed by Native American Artist Rick Harry (Xwa Lack Tun), and has an image of a thunderbird, cleverly formed in the shape of a maple leaf.
