Each coin is struck to proof quality from one ounce of .999 fine silver. Shown on the reverse of the strike is a design depicting two young kookaburras.

This release marks the second year in which the Perth Mint has issued a Kookaburra silver coin in high relief. The series itself, however, dates back to 1990. That year, the Perth Mint kicked off the Silver Kookaburras in a related bullion program. Demand proved strong for the bullion silver coins from both investors and collectors. Consequently, numismatic versions appeared a few years later.

Annually changing reverse designs insure continued interest in the series.
