2014 Kookaburra Silver Coin in High Relief

The 2014 Australian Kookaburra High Relief Silver Coin is now available from the Perth Mint of Australia.

Each is composed of one ounce of 99.9% pure silver and features obverse and reverse imagery struck in high relief allowing for enhanced detail.

Mintage of the issue is limited to 9,000. Another 1,000 have been reserved for additional product offerings. Pricing of the coin is listed as AUS $104.00.

Despite the relative short history of the high relief series, kookaburra silver coins have been a staple of the Perth Mint’s catalog since 1990. That year saw the debut of the related silver bullion series which have become one of the most popular silver coin programs in the world thanks to their precious metal content and annually changing reverse designs.

High Relief Kookaburra Coin Designs and Specifications

The high relief image on the reverse of the coin depicts a single kookaburra. The bird is shown perched on the branch of a tree with gum leaves surrounding the kookaburra. Inscribed around the design is ‘AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA’ and ‘2014 1 oz 999 SILVER.’

Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II adorns the obverse of each coin. Inscriptions include ‘ELIZABETH II,’ ‘AUSTRALIA’ and the legal tender face value of ‘1 DOLLAR.’
