2013 Girl Scouts Silver Dollar Sales Start at 41,624

The new 2013 Girl Scouts of the USA Centennial Silver Dollars achieved solid starting sales, while 2013 Proof Silver Eagle coins more than doubled their previous weekly gains in the latest United States Mint report.

Struck in 90% silver and debuting on Thursday, February 28, the Girl Scout coins sport keywords from their mission statement, "Courage," "Confidence," and "Character," on their obverse design. By Monday, March 4, their mass appeal earned 41,624 orders at the U.S. Mint. The proof version out-sold the uncirculated version during the opening weekend 29,331 to 12,293.

As for Proof Silver Eagle coins, their sales jumped by 22,151 during the week, after adding 9,238 previously. In the six weeks since the coins were made available, they have dominated the charts with collectors and silver enthusiasts purchasing 352,287 of the 99.9% pure silver issues.

In the latest round of updates, bullion Silver Eagles passed 11 million in sales since their release on January 7.

The United States Mint updated the America the Beautiful Bullion Silver Coins on Friday, March 1, 2013. The Vicksburg, Chickasaw, and Chaco coins increased this week. Their totals climbed by 10,400; 8,800; and 600 respectively. None of the 2013-dated coins have been released.
