Sales of 2013 ATB Quarters Silver Proof Sets Start Near 50K

Collectors narrowed their attention to 2013 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Sets, new weekly U.S. Mint sales stats show.

Buying activity, though, did not carry over to other available silver coins and related products, as sales slowed down for all but one of them.

Introduced 2013 ATB Quarters Silver Proof Sets spurred 49,051 orders between the debut on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 and Monday, January 14, 2013. These sets were the first numismatic release in 2013 from the U.S. Mint. Yet, the inaugural number revealed a reduction in demand since last year’s 2012 ATB Quarters Silver Proof Set opened with 61,181 in its first seven days of sales. Opening prices were the same at $41.95.

Next on collectors’ radars were 2012 Limited Edition Silver Proof Sets, which accumulated 1,940 orders. In the previous week, collectors bought 2,303. With the latest jump, only 14,690 sets of the maximum 50,000 mintage remain.

Close behind the limited sets were 2012-W Uncirculated American Eagle silver coins. Their total rose 1,369 to 186,437 compared to the prior round advance of 1,806.

The one silver coin to experience a week-over-week sales increases was the 2012-P Acadia 5 Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin. In the latest report, sales moved 118 versus 116. Every other numismatic silver coin or set logged slower sales.

Next week the Mint’s next silver product debuts, the 2013-W Proof American Silver Eagle. It goes on sale Thursday, January 24, for $62.95.

Monday, January 14, is the as of date for the United States Mint numismatic silver coin product sales above.

Star-Spangled Banner commemorative coins were limited to 100,000 gold pieces across all applicable product options, which include the Two-Coin Proof Set. The silver dollars had a limit of 500,000.
